The air is so hazy it’s hard to read the water. Some of our gang got in a lot of sailing this week, but, after my tow-in last Thursday, I was suffering from Wind Death Paranoia and was overly cautious—which means I don’t want to sail far from the dock lest I get stuck a mile away! (It happens.) I needn’t have worried because the wind was blowing south on the coast, which makes Berkeley a safer bet even in a heat wave.
It was HOT Monday and Tuesday. I didn’t record the temperature because I was accessing iWindsurf using Firefox, which does not honor the little pop-up box with the Wind Speed details. (The little box comes up for me in Explorer. I haven’t tried to figure out if my Firefox settings are too restrictive. I also haven’t tried Firefox 3, the latest version.)
I made the two S&B’s in three tries, but I never really got the upwinds in one go. (I tried to warm up with heli’s in one go, but I couldn’t do that either!)
The Fin Works FS fin is not working for me. It doesn’t plane up very fast (this sensation could be the Bash as opposed to the Hansen) and it spins out for nothing! I wasn’t even working it today and it went out because the wind got lighter. No warning and off a plane. My Recreational Composites Flippers spin when I get greedy, but they don’t slide out and drop me off a plane.
