My car, which hadn’t been driven since I went to Lopez Lake three weeks ago, needed to go for a drive, so I tossed in my gear and zoomed off to The River, also known as Sherman Island. The wind was capricious, but I got in a good two hours. Here’s my tip on wind prediction for The River. Check the wind at the Concord Airport. (You can do this via NOAA, click observations then airports.) When the wind in Concord is south, the wind on The River goes up and down and it’s worse at The Sign than at the County Park (the Access). When the wind in Concord is west, The River is much more reliable.
